The Buccaneer Band is a part of the Visual and Performing Arts Magnet program at South Dade Senior High School. Currently, the following ensembles are offered:
- Buccaneer Marching Band
- Wind Ensemble
- Symphonic Band
- Jazz Band
- Chamber Ensembles
- Choir
South Dade Senior High School has a rich tradition of strong band programs, dating back to the school’s opening in 1953. Since moving to its new campus in 2008, South Dade has become a magnet school with a strong Visual and Performing Arts Academy. Currently, the magnet band program serves students from as far north as Kendall and as far south as the Florida Keys.
