Happy Labor Day from South Dade Senior High! I hope you have had an enjoyable long weekend and are ready to come back and get to business, because we have a lot to do this week! Here is what you need to know:
Marching Band Rehearsals
We will have rehearsal this week on Tuesday and Wednesday (no rehearsal Thursday because of the game – see below) from 3-6. Please make every effort to be here; with one less rehearsal, each minute we are together is vital! We will review the video from Friday’s game and jump into cleaning the first two and a half movements. Battery, plan to stay late on both Tuesday and Weds to work on cadences!
BBPA Meeting
There will be a Buccaneer Band Parents’ Association (BBPA) meeting on Wednesday after band practice. The meeting will be at 7pm in the band room (note: the calendar had this meeting listed at 6:00, but the meeting is at 7!) We will discuss plans for September including fundraisers, marching band competition preparation, and initial discussions about our FMBC Trip in November. Don’t forget, by having a student in band, you are automatically a BBPA member and are asked to come to each monthly meeting! Please plan to be there, parents!
Football Game Thursday
After a big win against Ferguson last week, the Buccaneers are traveling to Southridge Park to face Felix Varela this Thursday evening. Call times will be as follows:
- Band: 5:00 pm
- Tech Crew/Percussion: 4:30 pm
- Guard: 4:30 pm
The busses will depart from SDHS at 5:30, and we should return around 10:30-11:00. Parents, we typically have a very hard time finding enough chaperones for Thursday games! If you are available, PLEASE email our BBPA President Tammy at [email protected] to let her know, so we can make sure we have enough hands! We could also use donations in the way of cases of water bottles so we can keep our students hydrated during the game.
